This is the time to morn and remember our Dear Friend Tony, not worry about what Mayor Kelly was wearing, possibly this was her way of showing respect, this we do not know,  nor should this be of any importance to any one what so ever, it never ceases to amaze
me how people always want to dig for a reason to complain about something.   Unbelievable... as Tony would say  "Forgetaboutit "

All right, when a person passes away, Oak Forst City Hall drapes a purple & black curtain along the building.  Showing respect to the person that has passed, like a flag at half staff.  This drape was put up on Tuesday out of respect to Dear Tony Chinino that passed away.  It absolutely disgusted many, that Kelly showed up at that evenings city council meeting, wearing the same colors, just purple & black.  It seemed to be a bit much.  She's a phony balony.

Tony Chinino, Oak Forest alderman, dies

October 29, 2008

Oak Forest officials on Tuesday mourned the loss of one of their own, Ald. Tony Chinino (1st), who died Monday.

Friends and family remembered Mr. Chinino for being outspoken, forthright and sometimes gruff. But he also was remembered for being passionate about his work as an alderman, his community and the youth sports teams he coached.

Resident Felicia DePyper, who managed Mr. Chinino's first aldermanic campaign six years ago, said she never knew him to be in a negative mood.

"He was always just so positive. On the campaign, he just loved to sit with people and talk to them for hours. And anything I wanted to talk to him about going on in our ward, I could always call him," DePyper said

Mr. Chinino had been beset by health problems during the past 18 months. He had the lower part of one leg amputated in the summer of 2007 following an infection. He had a heart attack several weeks ago but only missed one city council meeting.

Despite his health problems, Mr. Chinino maintained his upbeat demeanor.

Ald. Chuck Toland (4th) said Mr. Chinino's greatest attributes were his generosity and willingness to work.

"He always said, 'Give it to me, I'll do it,' " Toland said.

That attitude was what led Mr. Chinino to run for alderman. Toland said Mr. Chinino had heard consistent complaints from residents in his ward, so he decided to run for the office to resolve the problems.

Mr. Chinino and Toland worked together for more than a decade with the Oak Forest Raiders youth football team, where Mr. Chinino developed a reputation as being a dedicated coach, booster and mentor to kids. He also coached with the Oak Forest Baseball Association.

He worked for Nabisco for 37 years and often woul load up his car trunk with donated food and pass it out to his football players whenever he could, friends said.

Mr. Chinino also was committed to veterans issues. An Army Vietnam veteran, he worked to bring a replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall to Oak Forest earlier this month.

Ald. Richard Simon (2nd) worked with Mr. Chinino on that project. He said he will dearly miss his council colleague.

"He was the kind of guy who accomplished so much. He was well liked, and he genuinely cared for the position he held and the constituents he served in his ward," Simon said.

Mr. Chinino is survived by his wife, Lynn, sons Tony and Brian, brothers Eugene and Michael, sister Patricia Wilfringer and grandson Michael.

Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Lawn Funeral Home, 7732 W. 159th St., Orland Park. A chapel service will be at the funeral home at 10 a.m. Friday.

Mayor Kelly vs. cops?

I’m a very concerned Oak Forest resident. The avenues in which Mayor Kelly and her administration has taken are embarrassing to us residents as well as our police force. Why would you waste the taxpayers’ money on searching for a new chief? Why fix it, if it is not broken? I firmly believe Mayor Kelly has it out for the whole police department due to the contract that took forever to be settled. She didn’t like the big fat rat outside her golf outing and city hall, which the police department’s union organized, so now I’m assuming Mayor Kelly has it out for them as a whole. Boy, she sure knows how to keep throwing egg on all of our faces. Not a smart move, Mayor Kelly. If you think this will help you get re-elected, think again. Keep on digging your hole, because it’s getting bigger and bigger by the day.

Oak Forest mayor has no credibility

I cannot, and will not, believe a word Oak Forest Mayor JoAnn Kelly says. She has no credibility whatsoever. Kelly is always flip-flopping back and forth to cover her butt. Kelly’s words mean nothing to me as a taxpayer. Kelly must be removed from her seat. Enough of her kicking us in the teeth.

Will Oak Forest need a bailout?

In the FYI that we receive from (Oak Forest), they made a BIG mistake. The finance director stated that we are taxed only on our light, gas. She forgot to tell all the hard-working PEOPLE in OAK FOREST that we also pay on our cell phones, as well as the phone attached to the walls. If you’re going to print something, print the truth. We also pay more on those than you stated. The finance director stated we are giving them $37s on their tax bill. No wonder we are in trouble. Next they will ask us to bail them out.

Don’t believe everything you read

The mayor of Oak Forest stated, “Don’t believe everything you read in the paper.” This would hold true to the recent article about the Tax Advocate of Oak Forest. The response time to phone calls, e-mails, etc., is slower than molasses. Informative? Helpful? Not really.

Why? Could it be he works for the Board of Review - the same county position we are appealing to? One could consider that a conflict of interest. I saved my past appeals and contacted the previous tax advocate, who guided me through the entire appealing process, again. The current advocate should take lessons from her.

I would like to hear how the 2nd Ward Neighborhood Watch meeting went last week.  Are there any solutions being offered to lower the crime rate in the new commuter parking lot?

Regarding the old gun range, it is now being publicized that a youth group is using that space.  While I have no objection to groups such as this using the former range, I would like to see some proof that all the lead has been removed it is safe for them to do so.

Why is it that there has been no comments on this website since October 12th?

If no one has anything to say, we can't post.
