Regarding the stabbing incident, there were 3 people stabbed and one person beaten and yet no charges were filed because no one came forward.  What type of city are we living in that no one is going to answer for this?  Is it because some of the people involved are athletes?

It has nothing to do with some of the people being athletes -- it has to do with some of the people not being able to tell the truth.

SAFETY TIP REGARDING RECENT ALERT:
This additional information was posted on 9/4 by an anonymous individual at www.oakforestwatch.org regarding the recent alert from Fire Chief Lipinski. It is some excellent advice.
"Not just for fires, Chief. These Public Adjusters crawl out of the woodwork for wind and hailstorms, too, promising new roofs or siding if you sign with them 'NOW NOW NOW'. By signing with them, you INSTANTLY lose all ability to speak with your insurance company. You sign over all rights to the adjusters, who take a nice profit, do shoddy work, and then leave town before you even realize you've been had.
They'll even tell you 'we're authorized to work with your insurance company, we've already spoken to them about your claim, or we'll call your claim [in] for you', which is not true. Never sign with them. Speak to your agent first or their respective claims office. If you are unhappy with the compan[y's] claim service, you can always hire an attorney to assist or arbitrate your claim, which is your right under insurance law. You waive that right when using an adjuster.
Thanks Chief for the alert. Good luck to all."

WATCH ALERT:
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Per Chief Lipinski:
Community alert: Fire adjusters soliciting residents after fire calls
It has come to the attention of the Oak Forest Fire Department that fire adjusters have been soliciting residents after fire calls. The City of Oak Forest does not share information with persons who are not directly involved in emergency incidents. These fire adjusters are likely "radio chasers," who listen to radio transmissions to gain incident information. Monitoring radio traffic is not illegal and cannot be controlled.
Emergency incidents are stressful and can cause incident victims to become confused and unclear. The city is concerned that residents may sign a contract with a solicitor and then have to go through the legal system to get it nullified. Regardless of the size or type of incident, residents should only communicate with their own insurance companies and should not sign any type of documents unless they are approved by their insurance companies. The best practice is not to sign documents produced by a stranger without checking with the proper authorities. The Fire Department can be reached at 708-687-6050, the Police Department at 708-687-1376, or the Building Department at 708-687-4050, ext. 1040.
If this has happened to you, please contact the Fire Department at 708-687-6050.
